Oracle Adding .NET Support to Database

12/9/2004 3:16:39 AM
Jim Blizzard (my counterpart in the Northwest) sent an email that contained a reference to this blog entry by Brad Adams. Appears Oracle will be adding integrated .NET Support to a future release of their database. Now, their support will be out-of-process which is very different than the in-process model used by SQL Server 2005, but it is developer goodness none the less.

Better support of Microsoft and Oracle products by both companies has been a sore point with a lot of customers. Microsoft did good things by adding native Oracle data providers to .NET, and it's nice to see Oracle helping developers on their end as well. Still a long way to go, but signs of progress to be sure!
