Des Moines, Iowa (Feb. 25, 2005) – The Iowa .NET User Group (
IADNUG), a Des Moinesbased
organization of local .NET computer programmers, is offering complementary Web
services to selected Central Iowa non-profit organizations.
The offer, open to any non-profit organization in the Des Moines area, will provide the tools to
help maintain a dynamic and interactive data-driven Web site. The
IADNUGis offering to build
the sites at no charge.
IADNUG co-founder Eric Jacobs said the promotion is intended to give more non-profit
organizations a presence online, while also giving
IADNUG programmers hands-on experience
with DotNetNuke, the application the group is using to set up the free sites.
“We’re offering this service to non-profit organizations in order to provide training opportunities for
our membership,” Jacobs said. “It’s also an excellent opportunity for non-profits to get their
message out on the Internet.”
Selected organizations will receive full implementation of their Web site including e-mail.
While the initial site set-up is free, selected non-profits will incur minimal charges, Jacobs said.
Organizations that don’t already have a domain address will be required to purchase one at an
average cost of $35 a year, and a monthly fee of $9.95 will be charged by a third party provider to
host the site.
Applications are due by April 4, 2005 and will be reviewed by the Iowa .NET User Group
executive board members. Selected applicants will be notified via email along with introductions
to the applicant’s implementation team.
Applications are available at
