DevConnections Kicks Off - Morning Day 1 - Post 1

11/6/2007 6:48:54 PM

DevConnections officially kicks off for me today.  There was an evening key note last night that started at 7pm, but holding a keynote in the evening in Las Vegas is like having a xxx.

So far, the conference from a logistical standpoint is off to a good start.  Registration was very easy yesterday, though I got there first thing in the morning so that surely helped.  The lines did not look bad this morning so it looks like that is going off without a hitch.  However, I already have one huge complaint.  Where are the diet soda beverages?!!?!?!?  Sorry, if you are putting on a developer's conference, soft drinks should be available from the get go.  No excuse.  I am not a coffee drinker outside of the occassional froo-froo coffee from Starbucks or Caribou.  HDC had the same "beverage shortage" and now I find it again at DevCon.  HDC can kinda getaway with the "we're small and doing it on the cheap" though they have started to get big time with 500+ attendees.  DevCon, however, has no excuses with reg fees going for ~1300.

I'm sitting in the keynote room waiting to watch Scott Guthrie do his VS 2008 demo.  Scott is always good but I've seen variations of this preso more than a few times so maybe I will try and capture some other blog musings while he talks.
