DevConnections - Day 1 - Post 2 - Entity Framework Is Way Cool

11/7/2007 6:06:21 AM

Good sessions today on the Entity Framework.  I've been keeping an eye on EF stuff from a distance, but this was my first chance to spend a few hours really watching it in detail.  There is too much info to cover in this snap blog post, but some quick thoughts are:

- Very nice job of naturally extending the LINQ IDE experience to include the more complex scenarios that EF targets.  The mantra of "no surprises" from the dev team was really taken to heart, at least based on the demos of the CTP I saw.

- Powerful and able to handle complexity.  Entities across multiple tables, great incorporation of stored procedures as needed, and lots of configuration and customization points to tweak behavior and performance.

All in all, something that devs should really keep their eye on.

P.S.- Sorry for these posts coming so late, but my biggest complain of the conference is the utter uselessness of the wireless network at the convention hall.
